The 2010 season is upon us! We will be adding more produce in the next two weeks! Watch the e-news for more information on what will be at the market.

This week we will have the following items:

  • Maria will have tomato plants and annuals
  • Colleen will have some spinach and garlic and possibly some eggs
  • Patsy will have handmade cedar planters and feeders, birch bark picture frames and other gift items
  • Deb will have handmade soap and wooden craft items
  • Tim will have copies of both of his children’s books available for purchase and RHUBARB.
  • Locally handmade jewelry by Becky
  • Ray Ray’s hot sauce will now be available at the market!
  • Leslie Askwith’s lastest edition of Home Grown will be available at the market

Do you know any vendors? We are in need of more produce vendors. We welcome backyard gardeners as well – if people have too much of one item, such as rhubarb, they can come for only a week or two, they do not have to come all season. Basically the rules are that people have to grow the item themselves and the person selling it at the market needs to be the grower or a family member of the grower. (We do not accept resellers – this is vendors that buy large quantities of vegetables from downstate or out of state and then travel around to farmers markets to sell it). We prefer vendors to come from a 100 mile radius of St. Ignace but will accept vendors from further away if we don’t have a local vendor selling the same item. There are some items that the vendors need to be licensed to sell – honey, syrup, baked goods, jams, sauces etc – basically anything processed needs to be licensed. Please have interested people contact me or let me know if you think someone might be interested and I will be happy to contact them.

This market supports the WIC & Senior Project FRESH program by all of our produce vendors.

Support your local farmers also at Sault Ste. Marie Farmers Market on Wednesdays from 4-7 pm, and Pickford Farmers Market on Thursdays from 4-7 pm.

Brought to you by the St. Ignace Events Committee, MSU Extension, and St. Ignace Farmers’ Market Vendors Association. 906-643-7307.
